Time Families Games
Even struggling readers will find Time Families Games Level
1 and Level 2 engaging with its short passages, multiple choice
questions, and illustrations that serve as visual cues. Unique
cards, by Kristine Lindsay, feature 2 levels with a total of 400
passages. Appropriate to use with reading groups, small groups,
individual students, in centers, or for assessments. Cards reinforce
10 reading comprehension skills.
Skills in Each Level
Each level devotes 20 passages and companion comprehension questions
to each of the following skills: Context Clues, Cause and Effect,
Details, Main Idea, Story Elements, Sequencing, Predicting Outcomes,
Drawing Conclusions, Summarizing, and Fact and Opinion. Reading
comprehension skills are featured on large activity cards. Cards
feature paragraphs or groups of sentences, followed by questions in
standardized test formats. Cross-curricular fiction and nonfiction
topics for each skill are relevant to "real-world" experiences.
2 Levels
Levels 1 and 2 each contain 200 reading passages. Passages in Level
1 range from 1.0 to 2.9 Spache readability. Level 2 passages range
from 2.5 to 4.0 Spache readability. Passages within each skill
progress in difficulty, based on their readability levels. Each
level is divided into two boxes and features five skills per box.
Non-Fiction Passages
High-interest topics focus on famous women and men, fascinating
animals, sports, places around the world, disasters, safety, the
world around us (like clouds, planets, space travel), and
technology.
Fiction Passages
"Real-world" topics focus on contemporary issues such as a student
council fundraiser, video games, work ethics, friends, outdoor
activities, celebrations, social issues, peer pressure, family
relationships, & more.
Each Level Includes
100 leveled passages and questions, suggested activities, and Answer
Key.
