Article about On the Farm

On the Farm is designed to complement and support classroom work around the theme of the farm.

5 activities used in any of the 5 farm scenes:

1. Build up a scene: one picture at a time, by pressing mouse, keyboard, or switch.

2. Click on an area: Discover objects in a scene by clicking on different places. The word will be displayed, you will hear a sound effect (if appropriate) and hear the word spoken. This activity can be activated by the mouse, switches or keyboard.

3. Place words to label a scene: Pictures on the scene have a line by them. The aim is to place the correct word label on each line. Only correct labels will stay in position

4. Create your own scene using a background and the pictures. Add text.

5. Discover objects in a scene by clicking on different places: on an area of the farm scene: The word will be displayed, you will hear a sound effect (if appropriate) and hear the word spoken. This activity can be activated by the mouse, switches or keyboard. Visit the henhouse, pigpen, field, village, or farmyard.

The concepts behind On the Farm come from the Montessori philosophy. According to Maria Montessori, the most important period of learning is between the ages of 2 and 8 years. The program has been created on the basis that pictures should be beautiful, harmonious, full of detail and based on reality. Using the program, learners can discover and learn independently using creativity and curiosity.
