Gus! Multimedia Speech System Dynamic display AAC software Includes all of the following (click any item to expand):
• Main Program: Multimedia Speech
Don't be fooled by the simple appearance of the opening screen! From here, the user can move between an unlimited number of pages of pre-programmed words and phrases. This type of selection method for speech software is known as a "dynamic display communication system." Each page can have between 2 - 72 choices! For example, create a square (we call them "sound buttons") called "Greetings" and it will open to a page of phrases like, "hello", "nice to see you" etc. If you want to talk about the weather, create a page of sound buttons that contains weather related phrases. It is that simple. And there is NO limit to the number of pages you can add.
• Gus! Talking Keyboard
The Gus! Talking Keyboard is a text-to-speech program that combines an on-screen keyboard with an exceptionally clear synthetic voice. Type (or scan) whatever you want to say and it will verbalize it for you. Predicts current AND next word to accelerate text entry (based on frequency of use). Includes abbreviation expansion (e.g. "gm"="good morning") to provide further assistance, spelling checker and built-in 1 and 2 switch scanning access. This is the program that Dr. Howard Hornstein with ALS used to communicate with during his "60 Minutes" interview on CBS.
• Gus! Easy Talk
Gus! Easy Talk provides a method of creating speech by selecting from a listing of Topics and Phrases. The user can also create a new phrase by simply typing in the box at the bottom. To save the new phrase, just click the “Add” button. That's it!! Includes 1 and 2 switch scanning access. ![]() This is the program that actor Michael Zaslow (ALS) used to communicate with Larry King during his Larry King Live! interview on CNN.
• Gus! Speak Clipboard
An extremely helpful program that provides easy access to speech output from ANY Windows application. Simply highlight the text you wish to speak, then click the button on Gus! Speak Clipboard. Simple!
• Gus! Talking Calculator
Need a calculator with speech output? This is it. Echoes buttons as they are selected and speaks the result. Includes 1 and 2 switch scanning access !!
• Gus! Symbol Set
Contains a complete library of over 4,000 professionally drawn communication symbols (Save $180) Each symbol is an individual bitmap (*.bmp) file that can be modified using any Windows based graphics program.
• Microsoft Speech Synthesizer
Until recently, speech synthesizers sounded “robotic” no matter how much money was spent on them. However, Microsoft recently released a new speech synthesizer that is based on samplings of REAL human speech. As such, the realism and clarity of these voices is unmatched in today's market.
• Gus! Mouse - Switch Interface (included)
For switch/scanning users. Its a Windows compatible mouse and a PC switch interface (accepts 1 or 2 switches) in a single unit! Does both jobs at the same time! No need to buy an expensive “switch interface box”. Available in PS/2 or Serial versions. The Gus! Mouse is available separately for $95
