The Sentence Master is a four-level program that may be used with
both children and adults who have not mastered the reading process.
Prior to beginning the program, you should determine which of the
four levels is appropriate for a student through the short
assessment procedure described in the User's Manual (see Chapter 3). Goal 1: Student will demonstrate the ability to identify, in a variety of formats, the Non-Content Words and bound morphemes introduced in this level. Objective 1: Student will select, with 80% accuracy, the word from a format with three or four choices. This is termed Word Recognition on the Word Activities menu.Objective 2: Student will sequentially select, with 80% accuracy, multiple entries of the word that are embedded in a matrix of words. This is termed Sequential Recognition on the Word Activities menu.Objective 3: Student will complete, with 80% accuracy, the filling in of the missing word in phrases and sentences. This is termed Sentence Completion on the Word Activities menu.Goal 2: Student will demonstrate the ability to write, in a variety of formats, the Non-Content Words and bound morphemes introduced in this level. Objective #1: Student will complete, with 80% accuracy, a series of spelling activities with the word including filling in of missing letters, choosing the full set of letters, and typing in the entire word. This is termed Spelling on the Word Activities menu.Objective #2: Student will complete, with 80% accuracy, the writing of phrases and sentences that contain the word. The phrases and sentences will either have been displayed visually and/or dictated. Objective #3: Student will complete, with 80% accuracy, the writing tasks at the end of the printed Story Booklet. Goal 3: Student will demonstrate the ability to identify, in a variety of formats, the Content Words introduced in this level. Objective #1: Student will select, with 80% accuracy, the word from a format with three or four choices. Using the Testing Option, select #6-Different. Test both options 1 and 2 from the Different Menu. Select voice only from the Parameters Menu.Objective #1: After hearing a story on the computer, student will read, with 80% accuracy, the story aloud via computer presentation. Objective #2: After completing the computer presentation, student will read, with 80% accuracy, the printed Story Booklet. |
