Switch on Zoo
Special education, Win
Switch on Zoo develops awareness of cause and effect, using zoo animals
as a theme. Students practice picture matching, making choices, and
matching pictures to a spoken word. Activities include picture
building, matching, reaction timing, and picture recognition using
speech. Screens such as elephant, lion, penguins, parrot, monkey, and
sea lion will capture students' attention. The level of difficulty can
be changed to meet the needs of a range of students.
The Switch On Series offers exciting opportunities to
practice early language skills, switch training, visual discrimination,
cause and effect , and response timing. Teachers can change the level
of the activity to meet the needs of each student. Switch On titles can
be operated with a mouse, the Spacebar, a switch or a touch screen.
They have 4 basic activities: picture-building, picture matching,
reaction timing (press a switch when the picture appears) and speech
recognition (respond to a spoken prompt). These programs are
appropriate for students with physical, cognitive, and developmental
disabilities.
