Tracking Down the Parts of Speech Game
Tracking Down Parts of Speech, by Jennifer Howell, makes identifying
nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs fun. Students play the role of
detectives as they read sentences and identify four of the parts of
speech.
HOW THE GAME WORKS
Players roll the die to move around the detective-themed game board.
After a player lands on a square, he or she draws a card and reads
the sentence on the card aloud. Then, the player identifies the
appropriate part of speech based on the game board square he or she
landed on. Once the player has answered correctly, play proceeds to
the next person. In addition to squares for nouns, verbs,
adjectives, and adverbs, the game board includes fun squares,
including All Play and Player’s Choice.
TEACHER’S GUIDE
The 36-page Teacher’s Guide has multiple activity sheets on each of
the parts of speech featured in the game. Activity sheets are
appropriate for in-class use or homework assignments. An answer key
and progress chart are also included.
GAME INCLUDES
Game Board; 60 full-color Draw Cards; Teacher’s Guide; 1, 2, 3 Game
Die; and 6 Playing Pieces.
