Sentence Factory Game
Motivate students to build "WH" sentences with Sentence Factory, by
Rosie Simms. Game offers multiple play options to alter the level of
difficulty.
DRAW CARDS Any combination of draw cards can be used, depending on
the ability levels of students. All "Who" and "What" cards are
numbered and have illustrations that provide visual cues to any
struggling reader. "Who" cards (50) use singular nouns that name a
person. To simplify sentence building, this game expects students to
start sentences with a subject, such as The firefighter. The article
on each card is capitalized to offer another visual cue. "What"
cards (50) include present and past tense verbs with (e.g., fixes
the bike) and without an object (e.g., sneezed). "When," "Where,"
and "Why" cards (15 of each) are also included. These cards include
phrases without illustrations. "Factory Fun" cards ask students to
alter play, such as trading cards with other players.
TEACHER GUIDE Offers suggestions for how the game can be adapted for
a classroom. Ideas include removing or including draw cards.
INCLUDES "Factory" game board; 150 draw cards; die; playing pieces;
and Teacher Guide.
