The full-color, 48-page Student Text features four easy-to-read
chapters that focus on the laws and court systems of the United
States. Students will be able to describe the basic structure and
functions of the judicial branch of the U.S. government and the U.S.
Supreme Court; explain the difference between trial courts and
courts of appeals; and describe the trial process and its
participants. Students will investigate important Supreme Court
cases; learn how the juvenile justice system works; discover how
laws about driving, drugs, and alcohol affect young people;
understand search and seizure laws; and more.

support the content of each title in the series. Each book includes
a lesson plan that supports each section of the corresponding
Student Text. Every lesson plan includes content and language
objectives, key vocabulary words, suggestions for teaching specific
vocabulary words, specific instructional strategies, and
reproducible follow-up activities.
