Teddy Games
Review
Teddy Games Teddy Games is a delightful collection of early literacy activities. It combines simple animation, sound and appealing graphics into a collection of games to include matching, sorting and visual discrimination activities guaranteed to capture the attention of any young child. The screens were uncluttered and the characters and scenes were visually appealing. The children found the program easy to use and I found it quick and easy access to set up, alter difficulty levels, access devices etc. This is an important consideration in a busy classroom and not one that all software designers achieve successfully. The children could also return to the main screen without complication and could therefore use the program independently. The activities were presented at random, so the child was always surprised with a new format each time he/she played. This helped to maintain interest and enthusiasm and, as the package was engaging, the children asked to play on successive occasions. As well as providing important early literacy activities, I also found the program useful to use with children with poor co-ordination or motor planning difficulties. The children used either a conventional mouse or a tracker ball, but the program also has the facility to be accessed with both touch screen and joystick. The appealing nature of this program soon enticed some of these children to practice the more difficult mouse activities e.g. "drag and drop" and achieve success. The activities and characters captured the attention of the user and therefore their determination to succeed. This is an appealing, useful program and one well worthy of inspection! The games were well structured with educational activities and could equally be used in the classroom or at home. Cheryl Dobbs Independent Education Consultant - Victoria |
