All the picture words have full-color illustrations and are taught
in groups of five to increase comprehension and retention. Simple,
easy-to-understand definitions and sentences are read aloud for each
word, giving students both general and "real-world" meanings.
Sequence of Activities
Each picture word is introduced with its matching illustration. Once
the word is read aloud, a series of activities helps students learn
to identify, pronounce, define, and use the word.
Students will:
Learn each word and its definition. Then, hear each word used in a
sentence.
Choose the correct picture and word from two choices and then
three choices.
Finally, identify each word and its picture from five choices.
SCHOOL & BASIC CONCEPT WORDS
100 picture words focus on people, places, and objects in a school,
including calculator, desk, eraser, gym, map, pencil, ruler, school
bus, scissors, and teacher. 100 picture words are basic concept
vocabulary words, including blue, clock, inch, money, month, one,
taste, and winter.
Assessment Screen Track Students' Progress
An easy-to-use assessment screen keeps track of students' progress
with each word in the program. The assessment screen tells the
teacher how many tries it took the student to identify each word
correctly. A group assessment is also available.
